#tbtPrimelite:
Today’s flashback highlights Primelite’s “Plant Lite” featured in a 1970s catalog. The 1970’s was a prime time for houseplants, and as not every home had adequate sunlight, the plant light was a popular plant accessory. Primelite introduced our own version, appropriately called the “Plant Lite.” Clipping directly to the flower pot, the Plant Lite had an adjustable head and accepted regular as well as “Gro-Lite” bulbs. Used as both a light source as well as a plant highlighter, our Plant Lite was a popular addition to home gardens.

#tbtPrimelite 1970s Character Globe Lights

#tbtPrimelite - 1970s globes lighting fixtures

#tbt / #1970s / #then&now

Our handpaintd Raggedy Ann” and “Harlequie” and “Halequina” clown characters were popular children’s themes. #tbtPrimelite: Now here’s a real blast from the past! Our selection of 1970s globes included these hand painted character globes. Inspired by the children’s doll “Raggedy Ann” and clowns, these globes were Primelite’s first foray into childrens lighting fixtures.

Working with a local artist, who hand painted each globe, our “Raggedy Ann” and “Harlequie” and “Halequina” clown characters were popular children’s themes. Raggedy Ann was, and is, a classic, and clowns have always been favorite characters with children. Primary used in childrens bedrooms these fixtures were popular throughout the ’70s decade.

#then&now:  While these hand painted character face globes were Primelite’s first children’s lighting fixtures, we’ve continued to offer childrens fixtures through the years. As styles and themes have changed, so have the themes of our childrens fixtures. In 2015 our childrens light fixtures have a sports related theme.

As we continue our #tbt catalog exploration, this week we’re featuring a page from a 1970s Primelite catalog highlighting our “Fiesta” collection of kitchen ceiling lights. The 1970s was a big time for wrought iron lights and accessories. Handmade and manufactured in our warehouse, our fixtures were “de regir” in any tasteful suburban home. These fixtures were available in “fiesta” colors; including green, orange & blue and came with smoked, white, and tinted “crackle” glass globes. What a perfect accent to that avocado colored oven!

#then&now offers a look at our 1970s “Fiesta” ceiling light fixtures compared to some of today’s classic ceiling lights, the #254F, #360F & the #396F. Another modern touch; all three are available in LED versions.
