What’s The Buzzzzz?! Primelite # 57/855 ESW

We’ve had another Primelite in the wild sighting out among the beautiful people of Los Angeles. While strolling the streets of West Hollywood look for the Frederic Fekkai salon on Melrose Place. Above the front doors you’ll spot our Primelite # 57/855 ESW sign lights which have been lighting the way for glitterati such as Kim Basinger, Jessica Lange, Sigourney Weaver, Claudia Schiffer, Debra Messing, Renée Zellweger and Hillary Clinton!

Just image. We’re lighting the way for the (maybe) next president of the USA!

What’s The Buzzzzz? Primelite # 478N-862

’twas the night before tomorrow and all through the mall, the shoppers were bustling due to bargains galore. When what to our wondering eyes would appear? But a tiny little sweet shop and Primelite #478N-862!  

Primelite MFG been has again been spotted in the wild, brightening the sweetness of candy shop Lolli & Pop in the Tysons Corner Center in Mclean Virginia. It seems two of our Primelite # 478N-862 globe fixtures have been illuminating the way for candy lovers of all ages.

And as the saying goes…

We’re Featured: The Blacklist

It’s happened again! One of our fixtures has had a guest starring role in the TV show “The Blacklist.” Our humble can Primelite #58 recently illuminated the scene in one of our favorite shows. While things are not always as they appear in “The Blacklist,” our #58 was the real deal. Lighting the way for this NBC hit.

Primelite fixture #58/122. This simple ceiling mounted 2 light fixture starts with the addition of 2 – #58 cans in black. Not the right size cans? We actually have 3 sizes to choose from – #57, #58 and #59.

By exchanging the cans for 2 – #28 Bullets you now have Primelite fixture # 28/122. Again we offer 3 sizes of the bullets – #18, #28 and #38.

Replace the bullets with “Jelly Jars” and “Wire Guards” and you have Primelite fixture #26/122-4WG.

Not interested in a ceiling mounted fixture? Easily turn the fixture into a wall mount with the addition of one of our wall brackets.

We’re Featured: The Good Shepherd

Oh Hollywood you tease us! Starring alongside DeNiro, Damon and Jolie, our humble Primelite #39/19 makes a special appearance in the film The Good Shepherd. Once again we have been called upon to brighten the day, and night, of a major Hollywood film.

“The Good Shepherd is a 2006 spy film produced and directed by Robert De Niro and starring Matt Damon, Angelina Jolie and De Niro, with an extensive supporting cast…Although it is a fictional film loosely based on real events, it is advertised as telling the untold story of the birth of counter-intelligence in the Central Intelligence Agency.” *

LED-ing The Way

“As the 20th century was lighted by incandescent bulbs, the next hundred years is likely to be dominated by LED lamps…” *

 

Back in the 1990’s the work of 3 Japanese scientists led to the invention of the blue light-emitting diode, or LED. Last week the The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences awarded the 2014 Nobel Prize in Physics to those 3 scientists – Isamu Akasaki, Hiroshi Amano, and Shuji Nakamura.

“This year’s Nobel Laureates are rewarded for having invented a new energy-efficient and environment-friendly light source – the blue light-emitting diode (LED). In the spirit of Alfred Nobel the Prize rewards an invention of greatest benefit to mankind; using blue LEDs, white light can be created in a new way. With the advent of LED lamps we now have more long-lasting and more efficient alternatives to older light sources…The invention of the blue LED is just twenty years old, but it has already contributed to create white light in an entirely new manner to the benefit of us all.”**

We’re Featured: Gotham

Primelite's featured on TVs Gotham 

We recently had a guest starring role in the new TV series Gotham! Well actually a number of Primelite’s white globes were the stars. Appearing in a dark and moody scene our #284-3 globes shone brightly in support of the actors and actresses of the show. Can a recurring role be far behind? Inquiring minds want to know?

Gotham is an American crime television series…based on characters appearing in and published by DC Comics in their Batman franchise, primarily those of Detective James Gordon and Bruce Wayne. Gotham… premiered on September 22, 2014.*

We’ve been thinking, and what better topic for the subject of our next blog post than our fabulous Primelite Posts!!!  Get it? Got it? Good!

Illuminating Your Home Improvement Projects

February is a great month for tackling indoor home improvement projects. Whether creating a new space, or updating a tired one, take a tip from design experts: don’t forget about the lighting! “Clients are willing to spend money on expensive furniture or a beautifully finished kitchen but give very little consideration to the lighting element,” suggests Susan Quirke, Managing Director for the award winning specialist at Quirke McNamara Consultancy.

Choosing appropriate lighting during the renovation process is an essential, but often overlooked, design component. Lighting fixtures not only help create the desired mood of a space, they also highlight the design features and assist in the functioning of a room. “The most expensive materials and interiors are never shown to their fullest without a good lighting scheme behind them,” explains Quirke.

Making the right choice in lighting fixtures begins by assessing the natural lighting of the space. North facing windows, while giving truer color rendition, can produce light that can be cold and harsh. Lighting designed to bring a soft glow will warm up these spaces.

Rooms with south facing windows receive the type of natural light that can “fade out” distinctive design features. Spot lighting can focus the eyes attention to specific room features and transform an otherwise flat space. The shadows created with east and west facing windows can be minimized with free standing and overhead lighting fixtures.

Additional factors such as window placement, outside foliage, and seasonal changes can also affect the quantity and quality of a space’s natural lighting. Overhead lighting, which provides an even wash of illumination, can be the perfect foundation fixture for these types of spaces where additional lighting may be needed.
