#tbtPrimelite: Here’s another blast from Primelite’s past. We’re highlighting exclusive fixtures from our 1970s children’s series called “Juvenile Gems”. Our 1970s catalogs introduced a series of handcrafted childrens light fixtures which included characters such as the Tin Man, Raggedy Ann & Andy, and Clowns.

Primelite worked with a local artist who hand painted each face/globe. The fixtures were then hand constructed and assembled in our warehouse. These fixtures were primarily used in children’s bedrooms and were popular throughout the ’70s decade.

#tbtPrimelite: This week’s #ThrowbackThursday features our “Glamour Globes” from the 1970’s. For use in both interior and exterior applications, our fashion forward globes were heavily influenced by the disco era and were constructed of polycarbonate and embedded with crackle chips creating their metallic finish. Available in the fashionable colors of the time, including green, gold, blue, red, and white. These globes were, and still are, the definition of “cool”!

The 1970 catalogs introduced a series of girls & boys light fixtures, painted in traditional colors and themes. While a bit stereotypical, and definitely a reflection of the times, this baseball inspired desk lamp were part of the “Juvenile Gems” boys collection.

#tbtPrimelite: An important design element of the 1980s home was the metallic finishes of chrome and brass. Always looking fashion forward, Primelite introduced their collection of metallic bath fixtures. Finished in chrome, brass or a combination of both. Many fixtures included colored inserts available in a multitude of stylish colors: Black, white, yellow, mustard, avocado, apple green, red, blue, burnt orange, earth brown and walnut veneer. Our fixtures were popular, both, with home decorators and interior designers.

#tbtPrimelite

#tbt / #1980s / #ColorbyPrimelite

#tbtPrimelite: Chrome was a major interior design feature during the 1980’s. Taking notice Primelite Mfg introduced their “Modern – By Primelite” chrome lighting series. Incorporating chrome fixtures and white globe lights, “Modern” was indeed Primelite’s most “modern” lighting series. While the clean, stark and modern look was very popular, Primelite introduced some color into all this starkness. Primelite’s collection included Lucite shades available in color; Blue, Green, Amber, Red and Smoke.

#Globes! #Globes? #Globes!

This week’s #tbt is another trip through our 1970s catalogs, highlighting our selection of exterior globes. Designed for placement atop our collection of exterior posts, Primelite’s globes weren’t, and still aren’t, all round! Primelite offered glass and polycarbonate globes in clear, smoked, white and Orange!! (Actually amber, but it sure looks orange!) And aside from the round globes, we also offered globes in unique and molded glass shapes. In fact, Primelite still offers a wide selection of exterior, and interior globes, many of which are still not round!
